죽음을 앞에 두고 지나간 인생의 주마등을 경험했다.
생(生)의 시간에 내 해마에 담긴 그날의 기억을 꺼내어본다.Facing death, I experienced the flashback of my life passing before my eyes.
In this time of life (生), I retrieve the memories of those days stored in my hippocampus.
◯◯◯ 빼고 다 같이!Everyone Except ◯◯!
4학년 4반 음악수업 시간!
선생님의 풍금 연주에 맞추어 합창 연습이 한창이었다.
합창 노래가 몇 번째 박자가 맞지 않자 선생님은 학생들의 합창에 귀를 기울이시더니 드디어 범인을 찾으신 듯 한 학생을 가리키시며 말씀하셨다.
"◯◯가 박자를 자꾸 틀리네. ◯◯ 빼고 합창해 보자. 자, ◯◯ 빼고 다 같이!"
이날 이후 내 마음엔 "◯◯◯ 빼고 다 같이!" 란 선생님의 말씀이 아로새겨지며 난 이후 음악 시간에 입만 벌리고 노래는 하지 않는 학생이 되었다.
We were in the middle of choir practice, singing along to the teacher's organ playing.
After the rhythm went off several times, the teacher listened carefully to the students' singing, and having finally found the culprit, pointed at one student and said:
"◯◯ keeps getting the rhythm wrong. Let's try singing without ◯◯. Now, everyone except ◯◯, all together!"
From that day on, the teacher's words -- "Everyone except ◯◯, all together!" -- were etched into my heart, and I became a student who only moved his lips without actually singing during music class.
하나님의 섭리(攝理)
새옹지마(塞翁之馬)는 인생의 길흉화복은 변화가 많아서 예측하기가 어렵다는 중국 ≪회남자(淮南子)≫의 ‘인간훈(人間訓)’에 나오는 말이다.
소년 시절, 음악 시간에 생긴 마음속 생채기로 노래하지 않고 살았던 청년이 하나님을 만나기 위해 술김에 뱉어버린 ‘찬양을 크게 하겠다.’는 약속을 지키기 위해 10년을 다물던 입을 벌렸다.
그 찰나에 성령의 기름부으심을 받는 은혜를 입었으니 이 어찌 오묘한 하나님의 섭리요 새옹지마(塞翁之馬)가 아닌가 말이다.
"The old man’s horse" (Saeongjima) is an expression from the "Human Lessons" chapter of the Chinese classic Huainanzi, meaning that life’s fortunes and misfortunes change so much that they are impossible to predict.
The young man who had lived without singing due to the emotional scar from music class as a boy -- he opened his mouth, sealed shut for ten years, to keep a promise he had blurted out while drunk: "I will praise God loudly," in order to meet God.
In that very moment, he received the grace of the Holy Spirit’s anointing. Is this not the mysterious providence of God and a case of "the old man’s horse"?
